BAG APPEAL (5 out of 5)
Banana Punch takes after its father, Purple Punch, with bag appeal that turns heads (and makes for killer Instagram photos). The nugs are completely caked in a heavy layer of trichomes–the color that does peek through ranges from purples and blues to deep and vibrant greens. The chunky nugs of this batch from South Sac Care Center are cured nicely. It’s one of those strains that sells itself with its looks, and the good stuff about this strain doesn’t stop there.
SMELL (5 out of 5)
The parents of Banana Kush–Purple Punch and Banana Kush–blend together nicely to create a sweet, fruity blend of aromas. When I crack open the jar I’m first hit with strong candy-like smells that remind me of fruit Mentos and those Smarties candy that you always got on Halloween. This first wave is followed by smells of cinnamon, banana bread and roses… it’s a mouthwatering combination.
TASTE (4 out of 5)
This batch of Banana Punch smokes smooth and clean, leaving my mouth coated with soft flavors that remind me of strawberry shortcake. There are also hints of banana, cardamom, and blueberry muffins on the exhale. I enjoy smoking this strain, but the flavor isn’t nearly as pronounced as the smell and ultimately leaves me wanting more.
OVERALL (4.5 out of 5)
Banana Punch is one of the first strains with a Purple Punch parent that I’ve come across, and if this is any indication then we’re going to see some amazing crosses with this strain. The looks and smell are incredible, really, the only thing holding this strain back from being one of my all-time favorites is the somewhat weak flavor. I’m looking forward to trying more batches/phenos to see if I can find one that smacks me in the taste buds.
